Life Documented - Week 14

Hey, Creative friend!
heArt makes has a new home!!!
Just check my new site for more inspiration!!
 Click here.

Hi friends!! So excited with this week prompt, because I love flowers, spring and color. So fusing this three ingredients I bring you this happy spring flavored spread.

Theme: picture this – using photographs
Prompt: floral/botanicals
Technique: collage pictures or drawings of flowers
Quote: Spring brightened nature with spark of confidence

I didn´t use photos on the spread. Instead I used my floral photos from my garden for inspiration on getting my pallet color for this spread. I then collage a flower drawing and leaves along my page. I made a video with me creating all the spread so join me and have fun!! (Please use headphones for better sound. I know that I have to upgrade my filming and sound system but for now Is what I have!!!)

Life Documented Week 9 - "Explora"

Hi lovely friends!

I’m so happy to be again on Life Documented project for another week and share my creative process.

February theme: create with less and use what you have. Crash your stash!
Prompt: use a base you don’t usually use
Quote: “Explora”

This month theme it means a lot to me because as an artist I always work on a budget and I use lots of things that I have around me. Besides that I just love to reuse and find new uses for stuff that I gather.
The prompt is ‘use a base that you normally don’t use. In my journal for this year I incorporated along with paper canvas, because this year I want to explore more fabric on my mixed media works.
For this week instead of a quote I decided to try a word. ‘Explora’ is the Portuguese word for ‘Explore’ and we are exploring new bases to work on so it sounds to me perfect to use it!

I did a video  sharing some of my thoughts on this theme and prompt, I explain all the materials I’m going to use and them I create all the spreads.

So grab you journal, sit at your art table and let’s create.

Have fun!

Life Documented - Week 12 - Cascade of mandalas

Hey, Creative friend!
heArt makes has a new home!!!

Hi guys!!

I'm very happy because this week I was the guest for creating the prompt for Life Documented.
Since the theme of the month is bloom and as I love to draw mandalas I dicides to suggest to play with mandalas this week.
Prompt: doodle and use bloom Mandalas
Technique:  play with washes and drips of watercolors
Quote: "If we remain afraid and closed off we never know what it feels like to bloom" by Lori Schaefer

All the tutorials for the week were publish on Saturday on the Life Documented blog. But for those of you that aren't in Life Documented I would love to share with you too. I loved to do this spread.

Today I will share my art journal page with a cascade of mandalas, and tomorrow I will share little art cards.

This is my interpretation for this week prompt and techniques. Hope you enjoy.

Well, what i made first was to play with washes of watercolor and draw the mandalas. This is the center of my work this week, and I  used the mandalas that I draw in the three pieces that I  created

1. In sheets of a chemistry book I add washes  and drips of watercolor

2. I draw/doodle mandalas
This is only an example of my process to do my mandalas. I like imperfections, so i don't use a compass most of the time, I just draw. Do several of them, play and have fun. I only use a micron pen to draw.

3. Cut all the mandalas and cut them in half's

For my journal page I saved two half's of mandalas for the card and the tag and use all the rest for this page.

1. I add swipes of color to my page
2. I collage the mandalas, like a bouquet
3. I doodle some feathers

4. I add some black paint to add contrast

5. Then with acrylic paint I add more contrast color to the mandalas.

6. In the end I add lots of marks.

Life Documented - PAC my process

As I told you today I thought share with you my process to make my PAC (pocket art card) for Life Documented - week 10.
I really love to do this little art cards. In little space you can experiment, try new techniques, collage, doodle, sew, draw, well, almost everything in a little piece of paper and in short time.
This month theme is bloom, so i draw some flowers and used a technique with watercolors and isopropyl alcohol. This is a very fun technique. Um add some washes of watercolor to you paper and then with another brush you add some isopropyl alcohol. Because his proprieties the watercolor is going to spread, turn that space more white, and you will have a beautiful effect.
If you didn't try you will want too for sure. Is very fun.

1. Wet down the surface of the card with water. Then add watercolors.

2. I draw the shape of two flowers with the watercolors. After this with another brush add drops of isopropyl alcohol and see the changes on you watercolor. Is beautiful.

3. With a black pen doodle the flowers

4. With acrylic paint add more color to the card

5. Time to add marks, lots of marks to the card. I love to do marks, it gives another strength to my works, that i love.

6. Sew parts of the card to give it texture.

Hope you like it and have some fun with this technique. I would love to know if you like to do this little art cards. When do you do them?

Want to see more of my others pocket art cards process? Since last year with DLP project I make them and share many of my process.

LD week 8 - PAC my process

PAC - prompt: use under paper

As I told you yesterday I will share with you my process on the PAC for week 8. The prompt  was to use scrap paper or under paper. So I use my under paper. Almost all the time I have on my table as under paper sheets of vegetable paper ( like baking paper). All the scraps of paint, stencils or stamps will go there. At the end I have a mixture of things and color on that paper that is just delicious!!!
I had also a little scrap of paper that already had a stitch on it. So I use it for my PAC.

1. Round the corners of my card

2. Choose one interesting part of the under paper and glue on the card

3. Add some paint to cover those blank parts
(first i use a fluorescent orange and then a fluorescent pink)

4. Make marks with pens and pencils

5. To add more texture sew more your card.

Hope you like and get some inspiration!

The Documented Life Project - The UnPlannner - April Week 4

Hi there beautiful people! :) Yehhhh!!!Finally I managed to get the last week of April and be at the same time of the challenges as the prompts get out!

For the PAC ant the Pocket, I used the paper I used last week which is so haply colored that is like a Rainbow "Reaching the Rainbows" :)  My brown paper as you know is a paper bag that i double and sew. Is the back of my page from the last week. When I sew the paper I make it in order to stay with pockets, as I show you here and here.

As i love to do I share with you my process on the PAC this week.

PAC prompt - "fill the card with numbers"

1. Collage strips of papers from a math exercises bock
2. Add some color
3. Add two half circles from the colored deli paper
4. Add some marks with oil pastels
5. Make doodled flowers with a black pen

This week  I filled my pockets with the beautiful flower card that Susan send to me with an amazing amount of goodies!!! She wrote me in Portuguese!!! Yess she is so sweet! And i put in the pockets the letter and the card. To embellishment my pocket I use a feather that she send to me, and wanted to be thankful not just for her, she as been a really friend has she see my work and always has a positive word for me, but I want to be thankful for all the other beautiful people that I've been connecting with during all this UnPlanner project, that are kind with my work and so positive. Thank you all! :)
I need to make to you  an outburst. It is amazing how in this virtual world, we find people so fantastic, as we do not know in person, but we maintain a daily connection through art that each one does, and get feelings and connection. It's really fantastic!!!

I made this pocket with the deli paper, sewed a false pocket, as we do in fabric, and glued with my colored masking tape. Then I stamped dates. In the love of numbers!!! :)
