Hi friends!
Is time for another video for Life Documented.
May theme: Journal on the fly
Prompt: make a small journal to carry with you
Technique: Use scraps of papers to create small journals
Quote: Crete Art anytime everywhere.
For this week we are going to create small journals to take with us on the go!
I love to work on small size. And I use small hand size journals not only to carry with me but also to work at home when I don’t have too much time for a bigger page.
For my daily practice I use very simple journals with different kind of papers.
I made a video where I create my hand size journals and I also create a kind of a flowish journal to have always on hand scraps of paper ready to be used as collage on your little journals. I was very inspired by the gorgeous boocklets that Roben-Marie has been making for her #100daysproject, and so inspired on her I made this flowish journal!
Hello Hello my friends,
Today I want to talk with you about one project #criaremportuguês that I co-created with two friends @sandramarquesdesa and @anavilaflor.
First a little bit about why this!!? Well has you know I'm a Portuguese artist and since I started I felt really alone on this mixed media world here in Portugal. After I started my IG account I started to talk in English because I wasn't seeing nothing of this kind of works on my country, nor people doing that. So talking English was the best way I could get in a mixed media community.
After some years I started to feeling that I wanted to create a Portuguese community. Probably there is people out there doing the same as me and talking in English, so I will never find those people. I started to search and finally found some Portuguese girls who love art journal too. After some conversations and feeling the same that I was feeling we decided to create a community for making art journal in Portuguese. And so we created #criaremportuguês.
For the first call in Portuguese and the first challenge we jump in the #100daysproject and created our own little project the #100daysartjournalemportuguês.
So after the first call we found some really good girls, all talking in English!!! :) :) they loved the idea and jump into this project with us.
We get started tomorrow, April 2, along with #100daysproject. We are all creating in different forms and having some in common. Words. Portuguese words. One by day. Check out the video for presenting the project.
Hi friends!! So excited with this week prompt, because I love flowers, spring and color. So fusing this three ingredients I bring you this happy spring flavored spread.
Theme: picture this – using photographs
Prompt: floral/botanicals
Technique: collage pictures or drawings of flowers
Quote: Spring brightened nature with spark of confidence
I didn´t use photos on the spread. Instead I used my floral photos from my garden for inspiration on getting my pallet color for this spread. I then collage a flower drawing and leaves along my page.
I made a video with me creating all the spread so join me and have fun!!
(Please use headphones for better sound. I know that I have to upgrade my filming and sound system but for now Is what I have!!!)
I’m so happy to
be again on Life Documented project for another week and share my creative process.
February theme: create with less and use what you have. Crash your stash!
Prompt: use a base you don’t usually use
Quote: “Explora”
This month theme
it means a lot to me because as an artist I always work on a budget and I use
lots of things that I have around me. Besides that I just love to reuse and
find new uses for stuff that I gather.
The prompt is ‘use
a base that you normally don’t use. In my journal for this year I incorporated
along with paper canvas, because this year I want to explore more fabric on my
mixed media works.
For this week
instead of a quote I decided to try a word. ‘Explora’ is the Portuguese word
for ‘Explore’ and we are exploring new bases to work on so it sounds to me perfect
to use it!
I did a video sharing some of my thoughts on this theme and prompt, I explain all the
materials I’m going to use and them I create all the spreads.
So grab you
journal, sit at your art table and let’s create.
It's been a long time since my last post here on the blog. Life is busy and time flies!! But here I am again for a post for Life Documented 2018. I?m much
honored to post again for such an amazing and creative group in this month, May! my month! Yes my birthday month
(ohhh and this year I will turn 40!!!! J). In this beautiful month the theme
couldn’t be more in line with me!! Mandalas!!
You might know that I love drawing mandalas, so this one was easy!! I
also love to draw dream catchers, and since I started drawing mandalas I
started a fusion with mandalas and dream catchers, which I love to draw. So, I
thought on a mandala dream catcher as a start point for this week prompt.
Theme: Mandalas
Prompt: colorful and messy backgrounds
Technique: create a colorful background and draw a
mandala dream catcher
Quote: Let your Art express your heart and soul (it
was on my mind, and I love it!!)
I love to
start with a very colorful and messy background. So I went to my scrap box and
pick up some colorful papers, edges of parts painted, or stamped or with
stencils. Anything. The idea is to get messy and colorful. After I glued the
scraps randomly on the page I added, on the white parts, more stamps, and after
that some marks with stamps.
(TIP: if you decide to work on a separated
paper to add to your planner latter you might want to put some masking tape on
the edges to make a frame. In this case I put underneath the page a plastic bag
that I save from cereals and I adhere the paper and the masking tape to the
plastic. This is because after you work on the page you will get a gorgeous
washi tape to play with on your planner! I just love this technique)
After playing with the background I add some white acrylic
paint just to blend a little the colors and the page. And then I draw the
mandala dream catcher.
Draw the mandala dream catcher is absolutely simple. I draw
half of one mandala ( TIP: continue
drawing along the edges into the masking tape, for an even more gorgeous and
unique washy tape)
In the bottom of the mandala I draw the feathers od the
dream catcher.
I painted the feathers with white and colors, added a little more marks
to the background and in the end I stamped Heart and soul, inspired on the
quote that was in my mind when I was making this drawing.
TIP:
After you finish your page, take off the masking tape. Probably you will
have a stunning unique washi tape, and you will get surprised. Take a look at
some of mines that I use to embellish my unplanner, or artjournal.
Well my
friends hopping that you liked my ideas for this week and willowing to see what
you create.
Hi dear friends it's been a long time since I wrote the last post. O h my God, time flies and life can be so busy!! My baby makes today 10 months and i didn't noticed the time passing!!!
But today I want to share with you this tutorial. I made this page for Life Documented 2018 and i loved!!
The month theme is Hearts and flowers – exploring paints and
mediums
Technique: use gel printed papers, stencils, and stamps
to create a multi layered background
Prompt: Exploring texture and marks
Quote: Put your heart mind and soul into even your
smallest acts
I really fear a blank page and most of the time
I start by making a background, with collage or with paint. A background with
depth and texture is inspiring for us to go further on the page. When sometimes
with a blank page you get blocked, with a background you might be inspired with
those colors, texture and shapes. I focused on exploring paint as in printing,
creating texture and depth, as in the marks that I did on the page with some
homemade tools or with stamps, or with the stencils to create more and more
layers.
To create my background I started gathering some
gelli printed papers, with lots of colors and textures, because of the stencils
used when I printed. Some of the papers are translucent, like vegetable paper
and it allows seeing underneath the paper some of the stamps. I love using the
gelli plate because when you use it you can really explore paint, combinations
of colors, textures and depth
I cut pieces of the papers and fill the page
In the middle
of the collages I like to add some marks that will be visible when I glue semi
translucent paper. It gives more texture to my page. So I used some stamps,
here and there.
After my collage I use some watercolors to add
color to the white parts of my background
At this
time I like to add some white acrylic to blend the entire page, and create
spots of texture and depth.
Then I
continue creating layers upon layers with paint, stamps and stencils
I stamped tissue paper and add to my page.
It will give a gorgeous volume and texture.
I add marks with some random tools.
Then I use
a stencil to create a black spot on one part of the page, where I wrote the quote, and little spots to blend the entire page, to create harmony. Then, with
white I created a big space to draw my flowers.
I continue adding more marks here and there and
wrote the quote.
